Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgical Care

Plastic Surgery

Matis Hospital provides surgical evaluation and treatment for conditions involving the skin, soft tissues and other body structures that may require reconstruction or surgical correction. Plastic Surgery includes reconstructive procedures performed to restore or improve the form and function of tissues affected by injury, disease, congenital conditions or previous surgery. Depending on the patient's condition and treatment goals, plastic surgery may also include selected aesthetic procedures. The appropriate surgical approach is determined after clinical assessment and discussion with the specialist.

Reconstructive Plastic Surgery

Reconstructive surgery may be considered when tissue or body structures have been affected by trauma, burns, disease, congenital conditions or surgical treatment. Depending on the clinical requirement, procedures may involve:

  • Burn and scar reconstruction: Surgical management of selected scars or tissue changes following burns or other injuries.
  • Trauma reconstruction: Repair or reconstruction of soft-tissue injuries following accidents or other trauma.
  • Wound and soft-tissue reconstruction: Surgical treatment of selected complex wounds and tissue defects.
  • Post-surgical reconstruction: Reconstruction of tissues affected by previous surgical procedures, including selected cancer-related surgery.
  • Congenital conditions: Surgical correction of certain conditions present from birth.
  • Hand and soft-tissue procedures: Selected conditions affecting the skin, soft tissues and structures of the hand may require reconstructive surgery.

The choice of procedure depends on the location and extent of the affected tissue, the underlying condition and the patient’s overall health.

Plastic Surgery Procedures and Care

Plastic surgery may involve procedures using techniques such as skin grafting, local or regional tissue flaps, scar revision and other reconstructive methods, depending on the clinical situation.

Before surgery, the specialist evaluates the affected area, medical history and relevant investigations to determine whether a procedure is appropriate. The expected course, possible risks, alternatives and recovery requirements are discussed as part of the treatment planning process.

Postoperative care may include wound management, medicines, activity restrictions and follow-up appointments. Recovery varies according to the type and extent of surgery and individual patient factors.
