Intensive Care for Critical Illness

Critical Care

Matis Hospital provides intensive medical care for patients with serious or life-threatening conditions who require close observation, continuous monitoring and specialised treatment. Critical care may be required when a patient's vital organs need intensive medical support or when their condition can change rapidly. The level of care depends on the patient's condition, medical needs and response to treatment. Critical care may involve support for breathing, circulation, kidney function or other vital body functions when clinically required.

Intensive Care Support

Critical care involves continuous assessment of the patient’s condition, including monitoring of vital signs and important body functions. Depending on the patient’s needs, treatment may include oxygen or ventilatory support, medicines to support blood pressure and circulation, fluid management, nutritional support and other intensive interventions.

Patients may also require specialised procedures or organ-support therapies depending on the underlying illness. The critical care team regularly assesses the patient’s condition and adjusts treatment according to their clinical needs and response.

Critical care may be required for a short period or for longer durations depending on the severity and progression of the illness. Once the patient’s condition becomes stable, care may be transitioned to an appropriate level of medical support and ongoing treatment.
